Topic: The name above all names.

Text: Mathew 28:18 and Philippians 2:9-11.

Address: C% (Cornerstone Church, Uptown): 4, De Beer Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, South Africa, 2017.

In an African context, a name doesn't only give an identity; it also carries title, respect, prestige, authority, power, class and uniqueness. There are so many elements attached to a given name and it also defines so much more in a man that it gives insight somehow to what that man carries in terms of destiny.

Mathew 28: 18: “And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying ALL POWER is GIVEN unto me in heaven and in earth.”
This declaration from Jesus is a form of identified power and authority that were ascribed to his name and as the son of God. Also reflecting his union with the Trinity establishing their authority and power not only in heaven but with us on earth.

Philippians 2:9-11: “Wherefore God (speaking Almighty God the Father) also has HIGHLY EXALTED him, (Jesus his Son) and GIVEN him a name which is ABOVE EVERY name: 10. That at the NAME of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and in things in the earth, and things under the earth; 11. And every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father.”

A king's son doesn't only bear or share the name of a king: he bears and shares in his majesty. God the Father, confirmed the declaration of Christ in Mathew 28:18 by giving His full support that Jesus' name is "the name above all names."

Keynote: "In his name alone life is meaningful and liberty is brought to mankind."
