'BE SOBER'

"But the end of all things is at hand: be you therefore sober, and watch to prayer" - 1 Peter 4:7 (NKJV)
.
Those who understood the handwriting on the wall concerning the state of the world will know that the end of all things is at hand. Apostle Paul called it, "The perilous time" (2 Tim. 3:1).
.
Men and women are lovers of themselves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers and so on (2 Tim. 3:2-5). There are inventors of evil things (sex dolls and the likes) and the love for God of many are waxing cold (Matt. 24:10-12).
.
How can I escape these things or prepare myself for the end of all things? Be sober!
.
To be sober means to be serious, sensible and solemn; not affected by alcohol. Alcohol is a type of worldly pleasure and passion. Although a genuine child of God must not be given to alcohol (Prov. 23:29-35).
.
Brethren, this is the time to become more serious with your life and eternity. This is the time to choose whom to serve like Joshua told the Israelites (Josh. 24:15). This is the time for you to define your pursuit - God's kingdom and His righteousness or the 'other things' that should be added unto you (Matt. 6:33).
.
You do not prepare for eternity in eternity; you prepare here on earth by accepting Jesus and to live for Him alone. Make the deliberate decision to live for Jesus even if everyone is living for the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life.
.
Are you sober or living a life given to excess wine (worldliness)? Remember, the end of all things is at hand.
