FAITH AND WORKS

"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also" (James 2:26 KJV)

Is it possible for a body to exist without the spirit? Or have you seen a spirit on display without a body?
The subject of faith in the body of Christ is often misunderstood. Many believe faith exists but do not know the "works" dimension of faith, or the works of faith.
Beyond an abstract phenomenon, faith is demonstrative. You can't claim to have faith and you have no works to show for it. And works without faith cannot exist just as the body can't exist without the spirit.
What's faith?
Simply put, faith is believing in God and His word, and living out the reality of your beliefs. For instance, if you believe God exists, you'll evidence that in your reverence for Him and in how you treat others around you.
Works on the other hand are the efforts you put in place in response to your faith. Abram was told to leave his country, father's house, and kindred. He not only believed but acted in response to his faith.
Salvation and justification are received by faith, but there are some things you can only get through the workings of faith. If Abraham had not moved out in obedience to sacrifice his son, God wouldn't have endorsed His covenant in his life. Rahab believed that the spies would inherit the promised land and she saved them.
Meanwhile, there are two kinds of work that demonstrates you have faith. Good works and the works of faith. Someone hungry came to meet you for food and you have what it takes to provide for their needs, but you discharged the person without providing what they need, yet you believe God will provide for them.
Is that faith?
What have you been trusting God for that it seems your faith lacks the workings of faith, "spirit?"
The woman with the issue of blood believed that by touching Jesus' garment, she'll be healed. And she demonstrated that by finding her way into the crowd. If she had remained in the realm of believing, she wouldn't have been healed if she had not taken the right step of faith by touching His garment.
Ask the Lord to help you take the right step of faith that would lead to your much-awaited victory.
