WHO ARE YOU (4)?

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy" (1 Peter 2:9-10 KJV)

When you see a mango tree, I'm sure you'll never mistake it for a guava tree. Do you know why? A tree is best known by its leaves and the fruit it produces.

It is easy for many of us to call ourselves Christians, or to sing gospel songs because we go to church every week, but the truth about who we truly are is the kind of praise our lives show forth.

A man who is in Christ will produce, or show forth the life of Christ, either in great or small measure. You can't be a Christian and your life will produce the fruit of an unbeliever.

Jesus told the Jewish leaders that if Abraham was their father, they would do his works (John 8:39). If God is your father, you'll also prove it through your deeds and lifestyle.

Sadly, many of us appear or behave like Christians in the church, but outside it, we manifest what we're truly made of; and that's hypocrisy.

Did you know that it's not even enough to declare or sing that you're a chosen generation, but the truth is: whose praise is your life showing?

This is a charge to examine ourselves and to call our attention to what truly matters. You can call yourself everything God says you are in the scriptures, but if your life is not showing forth His praise, then you're a hypocrite.

Your life can either show forth the praise of Him that has called you out of darkness (sin, the world) into His marvellous light, or of the god of this world who has blinded the eyes of those who do not believe.

Now is the time to recalibrate your life if you haven't been showing forth His praise. Don't wait until that day when you no longer have the chance to remedy your actions.

Repent. If God is your Father, you'll behave like His legitimate child. Remember, by their fruits, you shall know them - not by their looks.
